Town of Westmore Seeking Public Comments on Draft Local Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Town of Westmore is seeking public comments on the draft Local Hazard Mitigation Plan. The public comment period will run from July 1 through July 21.



A copy of the draft plan can be found on the Town's website here or a copy can be picked up at the town offices.

Please submit comments to Stephanie Magnan of SEAM Solutions at steph.magnan@seamsolutionsvermont.comThe purpose of the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan is to identify local natural hazards that are a threat to the community, and outline mitigation actions to reduce vulnerability to these hazards. Maintaining an updated Hazard Mitigation Plan is one of the four requirements for Emergency Relief Assistance Fund (ERAF) status and is an eligibility requirement to apply for Hazard Mitigation Grants.

NOTICE The FOREST FIRE WARDEN OF the TOWN of WESTMORE IS Chris Venegas 313-282-9368 By state law, if you wish to burn natural wood or debris outdoors, you must obtain a burning permit from the Town Forest Fire Warde. The warden in your town will be able to advise you on local burning regulations and current conditions. Remember, “Only YOU can prevent forest fires.”

The Town Clerk's Office will be closed on Thursday, July 2 and Friday, July 3 in observance of the July 4 holiday. Office hours on Tuesday, July 7 will be 9AM to 2:30PM.

Water test sample results for the North Beach swim area taken on June 24 have come back. Testing confirms that bacteria are well below safe thresaholds, and the area is currently open and safe for swimming. (Posted June 26, 2026)
